TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND PROJECT CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT FOR SAN-MARK CITY, BANGLADESH
Client: ICCO Cooperation, Kathmandu, Nepal
Location: Bangladesh
SanMark City, a two-year action research project, implemented by ICCO Cooperation and partners to evaluate and promote non-networked, on-site sanitation solutions for urban poor communities in Bangladesh. The project aimed to validate the performance of four innovative sanitation technologies—Enbiolet, Biofil, Tiger Toilet, and Sun-Mar—while localising their design, developing a viable business model, and assessing the commercial capacity and supply chain for large-scale adoption.
500B Solutions provided technical support in refining the project’s key outputs. This involved reviewing and finalising the draft technology validation report by assessing gaps, analysing conventional sanitation technologies, and conducting a comparative evaluation of the validated options. The team also reviewed the Commercialisation Strategy Report, engaged with key stakeholders and project partners, and contributed to the finalisation of the project concept note for the second-phase extension of SanMark City.
